If you have been recently turned down for a merchant account because you or your business is on the MATCH or TMF list, this term refers to the Terminated Merchant File (TMF), the Member Alert to Control High-Risk Merchants (MATCH), or the Combined Terminated Merchant File (CTMF). These lists are used by acquiring banks to identify individuals and companies whose processing contract was terminated for a specific reason such as chargebacks, fraudulent activity, violating their agreement, etc. It is not a blacklist and will not prohibit businesses from getting another merchant account, but most processors use the list for risk assessment and it weighs heavily on their decision to approve or deny an account. If you or your business is on this list, contact your previous processor to see why they put you on that list and what you can do to be removed.
