Do I have to buy the EMV device from Persolvent?
Yes. The device must be configured with our merchant account and payment gateway settings, so you can only use devices purchased from Persolvent. We cannot configure devices purchased from other vendors.
Can I use an EMV device and manually key payments or do I have to pick one?
Yes! You must create a tender type for each payment method, and both options should appear in the checkout where you collect payment.
Do I have to set up both tender types - EMV device and card not present?
No, you are not required to enable two tender types to use USAePay in Cashiering.
If you do not want to take payments in person, you do not need to purchase a device and you do not need to add a card present tender type during the set up process.
If you only take in person payments, you do not need to create a card not present tender type.
Can I manually enter payments in Cashiering without running the 2024.1.0 Release?
No. Cashiering 2024.1.0 adds new fields to the USAePay credit card processor configuration screen that are required to enable card not present payments.
How do I add the service fee to payments keyed directly into USAePay?
First, calculate the dollar amount of the service fee so you have it ready. Then, use the New Order screen to enter the payment making sure to check the box next to Line Items On. You will need to create custom line items for the Invoice amount and Service Fee amount so they appear broken out as two line items on the receipt. For detailed instructions, see Manually key enter transactions. Once the payment is approved in USAePay, you will need to update Tyler Cashiering manually to apply the payment.
